Quarterly meeting of aspiring poets, gathering to hear published poets share their tales, journeys, impressions of daily life. Open Mic, question and answer time, and annual contests encourage the poet in all of us to participate in the ageless meditation -called poetry. Whether about love, life, nature, school, family, art or the divine, each meeting touches the participants in unique ways. Poignant or humorous, each evening is refreshing! Berks Bards is a non-profit group active in the Greater Reading region since 1999. It promotes poetry as “living art” for ordinary people. Monthly poetry readings feature an invited poet and an open mic. They also host special poetry events for the Literary Festival in October and BardFest in April.
This is a group for poets with a love of language and well, poetry. For all who wish to share their passion for the art of words in an open setting. A metrical poetry inspired group, though all walks of poetry are welcome. We will be mostly in Manayunk for meetings, but as the group grows, more ideas and venues will come about.
