There is also a south Jersey venue called Loser Slam in Lincroft. Each venue above holds competitions and sends a team of 4-5 poets to the Nationals. They are registered venues. With enough of a stro …

This meet-up is for those who want to write and read. Members should be at least 16 years of age, willing to write in silence for 20-30 minutes and respectful of others' work and perspectives. I decided to create this meetup because I miss writing poetry and have found that focus and clarity improve when you write with others. **This is NOT a workshop and NOT a therapy experience. It's a casual and small meetup for New York City locals. As pleased as I am for the interest, I'm afraid the availab …

A poetry slam is a performance poetry competition judged by arbitrarily-selected audience members. Where traditional poetry readings are about supporting the poet, poetry slams focus on the interaction between audience and poet. Strong writing and strong delivery are both important. We are interested in fostering informal creative outlets for neighborhood musicians and performers, and have begun partnering with two of them (Eupraxia and Cowboy Opera), to create interesting performances. The events are meant to be part performance, part socializing, with space within the performance for getting to know each other with the music comfortable enough for conversation. Mixing Welsh readings of Dylan Thomas with Bob Dylan and other music? Who would do that? But it's through the …
