As a transplant from Seattle, I've been missing my poetry workshop mates and I haven't discovered a group on here or in this city that quite fits. I'd like to have a place that provides opportunity for serious workshopping of poetry, as well as helps fellow poets write new poetry and have a safe place to share their poetry and experiment. How this workshop would run: Groups shouldn't exceed 5 people, so if there were more folks then we would split into smaller groups. Everyone, if they so choose …

This is a group to get together as a book club to talk about some of the amazing urban fiction out there. Great authors like Omar Tyree, Eric Jerome Dickey, Terri McMillan, K'wan, and so many more. It will also be a forum for poets to share their personal works with others who enjoy the art of spoken word, or just to read poetry that means something to you.
Metaphor is always with us in: what we read and write; what we see in media, film, T.V. and photography; in all forms of the arts, including the art of telling our stories from poetry to cultural fables to personal story, but it is also embedded in psychology and education. This is a group for people interested in collaborating on, inspiring, and showing off their zines. Yes, you can contribute art, poetry, original journalism, whatever. No degree of separation. No fame. Just writers writing. Authentic. Whimsical. Vulnerable. "It's all true, none of it's true, don't ask." We often spend too much time thinking about writing instread of writing. Our group meets to spend time writing. After we get our coffee, we pick a prompt (phrases, pictures) and a time period of a few minutes (5-10 minutes is normal). For that time period, we write on that prompt, using paper and pen. We then pass the mike around for anyone who wants to read. W …
This is a meetup group that will meet weekly (just come when you can) to talk about our writings and just get together with other writers. I hope to make this a nice community of writers where you can feel safe and grow your confidence. This group is more of a support group then a place to seriously get your work review. We do sometimes bring work to share but it isn't a requirement. We read are stories if we want or sometimes just bring copies or both. The rest of the group will give you fe …
