12 Meetup Groups match “Poetry” near Burnsville, MN
As a transplant from Seattle, I've been missing my poetry workshop mates and I haven't discovered a group on here or in this city that quite fits. I'd like to have a place that provides opportunity for serious workshopping of poetry, as well as helps fellow poets write new poetry and have a safe place to share their poetry and experiment. How this workshop would run: Groups shouldn't exceed 5 people, so if there were more folks then we would split into smaller groups. Everyone, if they so choose …

This is a group to get together as a book club to talk about some of the amazing urban fiction out there. Great authors like Omar Tyree, Eric Jerome Dickey, Terri McMillan, K'wan, and so many more. It will also be a forum for poets to share their personal works with others who enjoy the art of spoken word, or just to read poetry that means something to you.

This is a group for people interested in collaborating on, inspiring, and showing off their zines. Yes, you can contribute art, poetry, original journalism, whatever. Zines are usually xeroxed little DIY publications. We're going to get together at public places and discuss and create! We can also meet for other activities like movies, music, or other fun stuff.
We write with pen and paper (leave your laptop at home, unless you need assistive tech) to prompts during the meetup. We focus on the creativity and support, not critique. There's no degree of separation. No fame. No ego. Just writers writing. Authentic. Whimsical. Vulnerable. "It's all true, none of it's true, don't ask." We often spend too much time thinking about writing instread of writing. Our group meets to spend time writing. After we get our coffee, we pick a prompt (phrases, pictures) a …
This group is centered around zazen, sitting meditation and the mondo process which helps one see reality without the many layers of belief systems that we have inherited from countless generations. The mondo process also is about emotionally maturity which is a hallmark of spiritually growth. This community was started by Yudo Robert Yorga, a priest-in-training in the Hollow Bones Rinzai Zen Order, founded by Junpo Kando Denis Kelly. This group is about meaningful transformation, not just readi …
This is a meetup group that will meet weekly (just come when you can) to talk about our writings and just get together with other writers. I hope to make this a nice community of writers where you can feel safe and grow your confidence. This group is more of a support group then a place to seriously get your work review. We do sometimes bring work to share but it isn't a requirement. We read are stories if we want or sometimes just bring copies or both. The rest of the group will give you fe …
This is a group for people who have a passion for writing and would like to share that passion with others. Whether you write prose, poetry, science fiction, humor or fantasy, come join us!
If you're a writer and sick of the flashes of guilt you experience when people ask what you're working on, this group is for you. This group is all about deadlines, being held accountable, and supporting fellow writers. Although feedback is fun and helpful, this group is primarily meant to push each other to keep writing. If you already have a finished manuscript (and don't intend to start on another right now), this group is probably not what you are looking for.
The group meets at different south metro locations, and is a combination of group discussion on themes of the craft, writing exercises, sharing of current projects, and writing time. If you are looking for a diverse crowd to help strengthen your writing skills through discussion, to receive peer feedback, share your works-in-progress, and to get some writing done, this is the place for you. All ages, styles, and skill-levels are welcome.
The Hub is a community based organization that draws attention, support, and opportunities for writers, artists, and readers living south of the Twin Cities.
