Car (plenty of street parking available, and there's a parking garage directly located across the street from the venue), Public Trans (the Septa Blue Line El Train to 40th Street, then walk two short blocks south to Walnut), and to my NY, Bmore, and DC folk, the Bolt and Mega buses stop at 30th Street Station (Hop on the Septa Blue Line El Train to 40th Street, then walk two blocks south)...

Its about to get HUGE - Women of the World qualifying event!

Calling Philly's Best Female Poets for a SLAM! Winner will go on an ALL EXPENSE PAID trip to Detroit, MI to compete at the Women of the World International Poetry Slam

The night will also include a feature: Akua Doka
(Akua is a poet from New York City who has competed on numerous poetry slam teams!)

...and the open mic is for all (both male and female) poets!

Rock the Night Show proceeds to go to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) funds lifesaving cancer research that has contributed to major advances in the treatment of blood cancers and many other types of cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy and stem cell transplants, that have helped patients live better, longer lives. New targeted therapies that kill cancer cells without harming normal tissue are providing drugs and procedures that are improving the quality of life.

But more research is critically needed:

* Every five minutes someone is diagnosed with blood cancer. Every 10 minutes, someone dies.
* Leukemia causes more deaths among children than any other cancer.
* Nearly 20,000 Americans died from lymphoma in 2007.
* The survival rate for myeloma is just 34 percent.

All vendors are required to check-in at the vendor desk for assigned space. Volunteers are to report to the volunteer desk. All desks are located at the Welcome Tent.

11:00am: Opening Ceremonies

12:00pm-6:00pm: Childrens Pavilion
Cecil B. Moore Avenue and; Broad Street
Featuring: Childrens authors: Muriel Feelings, Eloise Greenfield, E.B. Lewis, and Synthia Saint James. Bring your kids to hear readings from these childrens authors in a special presentation. Enjoy face painting and other childrens activities

12:00pm-6:00pm: Hip Hop Youth Pavilion
Corner of Cecil B. Moore Avenue and; 13th Street
Featuring the talents of writers, performers, and activists whose works appeal to the hip-hop generation. The theme: WHAT: Writing. Hip-Hop. Advancement. Togetherness. This pavilion focuses on using the power of writing, poetry, and music to foster a sense of collective purpose, pride, and advancement among the hip-hop generation.

12:45PM: G.O.D. Power Movement - Philadelphia based Hip-Hop Youth Organization
